A ‘NAM S&T – Industry Network’ has been set up by the Centre to encourage and provide opportunities to individual scientific agencies, academic and research institutions, centres of excellence and industries in the developing countries for their participation in the scientific activities of the Centre. Such organisations may be from any developing country, whether it is a member country of the Centre or not. The Network membership entitles the member organisation to participate in all the scientific activities, including meetings, workshops, training and Fellowship programmes organised by the Centre.

There are two categories of members under the NAM S&T – Industry Network, namely:

Category-I    Individual R&D and academic institutions, and

SCIENTIFIC BENEFITS AND PRIVILEGES TO

THE S&T NETWORK MEMBER OF THE NAM S&T CENTRE

·        The nominees of the Network members are provided free return international airfare, if the event is held abroad; all registration charges, training fees or processing fees are waived off; and local hospitality, including accommodation, meals and local transport is made available free of cost. While the Network members of the first category (R&D and academic institutes) may nominate one participant each year, those under the second category (large scientific agency, science academies and industrial organisations) may nominate two participants each year with full finances paid by the NAM S&T Centre. For additional nominees in a particular year, however, the local hospitality is still fully taken care of by the Centre, but they are required to make own arrangement for the international travel.

·        The Network members are also provided space in the quarterly Newsletter of the Centre at a nominal cost to advertise their achievements / products. They may also disseminate any information through the extensive network of the Centre in ~100 countries and with ~25 international organizations and access useful information on science and technology in the developing world on a regular basis. Through such interactions, a Network member may get the opportunity to offer consultancy or undertake joint projects on transfer of technology, technical assistance, manpower development and capacity building in specific areas on bilateral or multilateral basis with other member organizations or countries. The Network members also get preference in holding international scientific events in collaboration with the Centre.

·        The Network member may procure copies of various priced publications of the Centre at a heavily discounted rate over the catalogue price for dissemination to its scientists and scientific institutions.

·         A scientific institution or agency designated by the Network member may host and organize scientific activities jointly with the NAM S&T Centre on a cost-sharing basis, which provides not only an international exposure to the host institution but also a scope for establishing scientist-to-scientist contact and bilateral collaborative relations.

The membership of the S&T-Industry Network carries an annual subscription of US$2,000 for Category-I (R&D and academic institutions) and US$4,000 for Category-II (large scientific agencies, science academies and industrial organisations).
